Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use AdaptMe, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent frameworks in the UK and Switzerland. We designed AdaptMe to collect as little data as possible.
Who we are
AdaptMe is a website operated by a small independent team providing cultural adaptation information for travelers and people relocating abroad. You can reach us at adaptme.me.admin@gmail.com.
For the purposes of GDPR, we act as the data controller for the personal information described here.
Information we collect
We collect only a small amount of information, all of it automatically when you visit AdaptMe.
Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and pages viewed. This data is used for security and to understand how the site is used.
Preferences you set: the language you selected, whether you chose Travel or Relocate mode, and the last destination you looked at. These preferences are stored in your browser's local storage on your device only — we do not receive a copy.
We do not currently offer user accounts, forms, or purchases, so we do not collect names, email addresses, payment details or any similar information from you unless you write to us.
Cookies and similar technologies
AdaptMe uses a small number of cookies and local storage entries.
Essential: to remember your language and mode. These cannot be turned off because the site would not work without them.
Advertising and measurement: cookies set by Google AdSense to serve advertising and measure its effectiveness. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before setting these cookies via our consent banner.
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clicking the “Manage privacy choices” link in the footer of the site.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on AdaptMe. This helps us keep the service free.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to AdaptMe and other sites on the internet. If you are in a region where personalized advertising requires consent, Google will only serve personalized ads if you have given consent through our banner.

Service providers we use
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run AdaptMe. Each is bound by contractual data-protection safeguards.

Your rights
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland (and in many other jurisdictions with similar laws) you have the right to access your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive your data in a portable format.
You also have the right to withdraw any consent you gave us at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

International data transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on approved safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep information
Technical logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and troubleshooting.
Advertising cookies persist for the length set by Google (typically up to 13 months) unless you clear them.
Preferences stored in your browser stay until you clear your browser data or reset them on the site.
Children
AdaptMe is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
